Privacy
FastFingers (fastfingers.cc) is a free typing test run by Akhilesh Dixit. This page says what it stores about you, why, and how to remove it.
Without an account
You can type without signing in. Your settings, results and story progress are kept in your own browser's storage and never sent to us. Clearing your browser data removes them.
With an account
Signing in uses your Google account through Firebase Authentication (a Google service). We receive your Google account ID, email address and Google display name. Your email and Google name are never shown to other players. We use your email only to run your account.
When signed in we store:
- Your public profile: the name, avatar colour and icon, optional country and one-line bio you choose, plus your best scores, badges, streak, number of tests and time typed. Anyone can see this.
- Your detailed stats: speed per week, recent tests and weakest keys. You choose who can see them: everyone, friends only, or only you.
- Every test you finish: speed, accuracy, per-key and per-letter-pair timing, and the words you got wrong. Only you can see these.
- Your settings and where you are in each book.
- Your friends and friend requests.
For ranked tests your browser sends the text and the timing of each key press so our server can check the score is real. The key timing is used for that check and is not stored.
Where it lives
Data is stored in Google Firebase (Firestore and Cloud Functions, in Google's Mumbai region, and Firebase Hosting). Google processes it for us under its own terms.
Other sites
Wikipedia mode loads articles straight from Wikipedia in your browser, so Wikipedia sees that request. We use no ads, no analytics trackers and no tracking cookies, and we never sell your data.
Leaderboards
Ranked results put your public name, avatar, country (if set) and score on public leaderboards. You can keep yourself off them in Settings, Edit profile.
Deleting your data
Settings, Delete my account removes your profile, results, leaderboard rows, friends and requests straight away, and deletes your sign-in. You can download your results first from the same page.
Children
FastFingers is meant for people aged 13 and over.
